Haylie Mulliniks, O.D., a Desoto County native, graduated from Union University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. While attending Union, she was the president of Sigma Zeta Honor Society. She also received the Freshman Chemistry Award and was chosen to present her research on silicone polymers at the American Chemical Society meeting.
Dr. Mulliniks received her Doctorate from Southern College of Optometry, SCO, in Memphis, Tennessee. At SCO, she was invited to become a member of Beta Sigma Kappa National Optometric Honor Society. She has been chosen to present posters at several National Optometric meetings across the country. Dr Mulliniks completed her residency in Hospital-Based Primary Care with an emphasis in Ocular Disease at the VA Medical Center in Memphis.
After completing her residency, Dr. Mulliniks served as a faculty member at Southern College of Optometry, where she instructed students on diagnosis and management of ocular and vision disorders focusing mainly on primary care. She is currently responsible for directing the students that rotate through Toyos Clinic from SCO.
Dr. Mulliniks also is in charge of the residency at Toyos Clinic. Each year one doctor is selected from a nationwide pool of candidates who apply to complete one year of specialized training in surgical optometric care. She was honored as a Top Doctor 2019 by Top Doctor Awards. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association as well as the Mississippi Optometric Association.
